One of the pleasures of online publishing is the feedback we get from readers after your trips. It's sometimes almost as much fun to read about the enjoyment you get as making the trip ourselves ... and, you've frequently picked up an added insight that will add to the pleasure of future travelers.

The most useful are incorporated in our pages, but you'll find them here and in Been There ... Done That first, and many others in our archives of Travel Tips.

The writers also represent resources for future travelers. If you think the writer can help you with your trip, send them an e-mail ... most are happy to share their knowledge when they have the time.

And don't forget to drop us a line when you get back from your trip, whether you've got an orchid, an onion, a tip, or just want to say hello!

Well... I had already been twenty times or so to Rome (living in Paris it is a bit easier for me, I suspect), but your site has been extremely useful for my 21st (or so...) visit! Thank you and congratulations!

Thank You, Thank You!

Thank you so much for the info about Switzerland! We just returned from a 10-day trip to Switzerland/Austria. Since we had a concert in Zürich to attend, we decided to make Zürich out "home base", after reading your articles about it. We were there for seven days and took day trips to Interlaken, Luzern, and Rapperswil, as well as went swimming in Lake Zürich (highly recommended!!). You can see our pictures on our website (the link is below). We stayed at the Hotel Rössli, which was very clean, charming, and hospitable. We now have plans to return for our (first) wedding anniversary in September, and maybe for Christmas.

If we had not come across your article, we would not have discovered the unique charm that Zürich has. We really fell in love with it...

Thank you again, Maria

I just wanted to say thank you for all of the information that you provided in your website. My husband and I just got back from a month long vacation in Italy. Before we left, I was having a nervous breakdown because I wasn't sure what to expect when we arrived. Your website gave me so much information that I immediately felt secure about leaving for vacation. Your tips on safety, sights, reservations and even what to pack helped immensely. I just wanted to make sure that you know how much I appreciated your site. Thank you for taking the time to put it together. We had a wonderful time and I know that it's in part because I was prepared by the information in your site.

I just had to drop you a line to let you know what a wealth of information I found on your website! We're leaving for Rome September 5 and hopefully staying there for a year. We've bought 5-7 books on Rome which helped somewhat, but I have to say, your website has everything we needed that the books don't have, and in ONE place! Thank you so much for giving us such great recommendations and insights!

Many, many thanks for your quick reply. I really enjoy your website. It is most helpful, and makes one want to travel! I like it when someone has strong suggestions and explains why.

Thanks for Telling about the Jewels

I just wanted to drop a quick thanks for directing me to the jewels of Mürren (I stayed with Denise at the Fontana), and Ostia Antica in Rome.

My parents gave me a three week Eurail pass for a college graduation gift, and I had about a month to plan my trip. Your website was very valuable in this effort. Mürren is now very high on my list of places to visit again some day, and without seeing your sight I might not have gone to Switzerland at all!

I have to say I weigh in on Ed's side in Rome - I thought St. Peters was the most boring church I saw in Europe. I would much rather be in the ruins while in Rome (thought I am slightly biased- I graduated in March w/a degree in Greek and Classics).

Thanks much, Eric

THANK YOU VERY MUCH for your fantastic travel website.

We are spending a year in London, UK and made a few trips to other European countries, including Switzerland. That was how I ran across your wonderful website, researching stuff to see and do in Switzerland.

If not for your site, I would never have decided - as we did - to visit Luzern, or take a trip to Mürren via the fantastic funicular-mountain rail route. Thank you from my heart for suggesting that breathtaking route. It was easily among the most scenic I've been through in my life!

Once again, thank you for a fantastic, useful, practical and romantic website. As a fellow Web enthusiast who designs and creates websites for the pure fun and joy of it, I can see on your site the true signs of a passionate enthusiast, which today is a refreshing change from the overtly commercial thrust of most other travel websites I came across.

... for all the help available in your site. We just returned from a week in Rome and loved every minute of it. Especially helpful was your guide book recommendation of The City Guide - Blue Book (Rome). Since we had no tour guide it was invaluable (also helpful in labeling the pictures once we got home). Again, your site is wonderful.

You Capture Switzerland's Beauty

We lived in Switzerland for six months in 1989 and nearly every time we hopped on the train, it was to Interlaken area...Lauterbrunnen, Mürren. We totally agree, that area is the real Switzerland at least from our point of view. Thank you very much for your ability to utilize the English language in such superb fashion in describing a place....a special place called Switzerland. Yes, we have been there several times and will take another couple with us next year. We are not young chickens. I am 71 and my dear wife is 70. Again, Thank you.

Veni, vidi, non vici

Well I went and I saw, but I didn't conquer Rome, Rome conquered me.

I came home footsore and weary, but so happy to have seen such wonderful sights.

Your guide to viewing the Roman Forum was a good help, it made it easier to identify which bit was where. It also encouraged Keith and I to venture to Ostia Antica, and I am so glad we did. You can really imagine yourself back there at the height of the Empire as you walk about the place.

Have you been to Trajan's market at all? There has been a lot of restoration work done and you can now go and wander around quite a lot of the complex, including Trajan's Forum. It is very atmospheric to be able to pop into the little "shops", though to my mind the effect is spoiled in some places by an exhibition of some contemporary art which is a bit pretentious. However there is enough left unadorned to get the feel of the place.
[The market is of some interest, though not a high priority for most visitors unless they've pretty well exhausted the top 20 sights.]

Thank you for putting together your website, it really is helpful to fellow travellers. I have already recommended it to several friends, and I will continue to visit myself for future updates, as Rome is definitely a place we will visit again (our coins went in the fountain to make sure)

Cheryl

We are headed to Rome and I'd already picked up your wonderful restaurant listing. Because of the snow storms here in Boston, Alitalia overbooked and we didn't get on tonight (we'll go tomorrow). I had to notify friends who were already over there, our hotel in Rome, and the Italian travel agency. If it weren't for your page "Dialing Italy," I NEVER would have figured it out! You have wonderful information on your website, but I can't tell you how practical and specific your "Dialing Italy" directions are -- down to giving us an example of faxing a hotel! I must have tried to decipher 5 other "international dialing" sites before I found yours. What a gem! And all my faxes went through! Now I'm going to take my extra time and peruse the rest of your materials relating to Rome. I can't thank you enuf! -- Mary

Swiss Accuracy (Like a Watch?)

I truly enjoy your website! Thank you for taking the time to keep it up-to-date. It must be an enormous amount of work. Your opinions on Switzerland are very accurate. My husband and I have traveled to Switzerland many times for hiking and the Berner Oberland has to be the most beautiful spot in the world. I agree with your advice on the Jungfrau trip--very expensive and crowded. There are better places to see spectacular views! Thanks again for your great site!

I want to tell everyone, I grew up in Franconia (Franken area of Germany) and all of your desciptions and advice are right on, in fact, I learned things I didn't know and will use that knowledge in a trip to Germany in April to show my daughter "where mommy grew up"! Thanks for your help!

I am preparing for my first trip to Italy. Am I ever glad your site popped up in my search!!! Your information is so thorough I didn't need to even visit any other site! I especially liked the links to information from the State Dept about safety, the monetary conversion tables and the general information. I only wish you had every city covered in Italy!!! Wow. You set me at ease in lots of respects, and I thank you for this wonderful information. Keep up the good work....and Thanks.
P.S. I go armed with my conversion tables and basic phrases!! Veni, Vedi, Vinci!

And Judy's followup note: March 6, 2001

I wanted to thank you again for making our trip to Italy much more interesting and exciting. Your site helped in so many ways. Rome was wonderful and I look forward to going again and doing more on my own. (using your tips of course!!) If you are not already aware, il Mose is a wonderful restaurant located near San Pietro in Vincoli. We ate there twice since our hotel was across the street, but would go out of my way to eat there again. Thanks for making things better, armed with your quick examples of language, exchange rates and the like, everything went smoothly!
