In the restricted area to the left of St. Peter's when you walk across the courtyard. One of the coolest parts of the trip to Rome was walking up to the Swiss guard and saying "I have an appointment" so you could go through into the restricted area. We got to watch the diplomatic cars go by.

Walking around in Rome, even when you are in a "new" section you still happen across medieval buildings. Past Renaissance palazzo you can see a castle-like medieval tower. In the foreground is today's menu with the ubiquitous Algida sign.

Wolf heads on pillar, looking across the Piazza della Republica to Santa Maria degli Angeli. All of this was once inside the Baths of Diocletian - as were the next couple of blocks in the direction we're looking!

Santa Susanna is the American Catholic church in Rome. They made the reservations for the St. Peter's Scavi tour for us, and we had also asked them to reserve us tickets for the Wednesday Papal audience. Ezekiel is of course Elizabeth's chosen confirmation name, so even though flash is not allowed in the churches, I tried for a picture of this statue.

On the way back to the Campo de' Fiori we stopped by our "old neighborhood" and looked down the Spanish Steps in the late afternoon. Behind the billboard at left, the building is under renovation and the windows are painted on a screen - you can see the sun shining through it at the top.

Lisa wanted me to take many more pictures of dogs than I did.
