01 of 12. We saw this place on the Scala Reale tour, and I went back on Wednesday morning while Lisa was at the Papal audience. The neighborhoods at our end of the Campo de' Fiori are medieval. This is the courtyard of the Aceti, who sold water by the flask in the Middle Ages. It is not clear whether the water was mixed with vinegar to purify it, but vinegar seems to have been involved somehow.
